Ben Slye

CEO/Executive Director

As the Senior Pastor of Christian Life Center since 2001, Pastor Ben founded Passion and Compassion as an outreach ministry to create a lasting impact in his community. Ben is the cornerstone of P&C and through his perseverance, established dozens of strategic partnerships to excel the organization’s food distribution network. Under Ben’s supervision, Passion and Compassion has served more than 50 million pounds of food throughout Prince George’s County.

Ben’s compassion to build the Body of Christ, and serve others is the calling in his life. In his spare time, Ben is an avid fisherman, Orioles fan, and enjoys daily exercise.

Kyle Slye

Operations Manager

Kyle oversees the overall operations, marketing, and social media of Passion and Compassion. In 2012, Kyle earned a B.A. degree in public relations from the University of Maryland, College Park. While attending UMD, Kyle interned in the game operations department for the Washington Football Team, Washington Wizards, and Maryland Football.

Kyle has since accumulated 8 years of experiential marketing experience and managed campaigns for Samsung US, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, PepsiCO, ITG Brands and LVMH. Kyle loves chicken and rice, weightlifting, long bike rides, and collecting shoes he will rarely wear.

Katie Aguila

Grant Writer


Katie is a food enthusiast who believes in the power of a small group of passionate people to reimagine the systems that shape our world. As Food Recovery Network's (FRN) Operations and Special Projects Manager, Katie likes to use her creativity and try-it-and-see mentality to strengthen and build FRN's infrastructure and find solutions to new problems. With Passion & Compassion, an email from Pastor Ben turned into an amazing opportunity to join and support P&C's capacity building work.

Katie is driven by the belief that access to healthy, delicious food is a human right, and is passionate about building relationships with other awesome people to create a more just, sustainable food system together. Outside of work, Katie likes to cook with friends, find any excuse to check out a new restaurant, and geek out with fellow movie lovers.
